Shimon Ito began his dance training at the age of 4 at his mother’s dance academy, Asako Ballet New York. At 8 years old he was accepted into the School of American where he trained for 5 years. Ito continued his training at The National Ballet School of Canada where he graduated receiving the Peter Dwyer award. Throughout his training in Canada, he also attended the John Cranko School in Stuttgart where he trained with Pyotr Pestov.

Ito went on to join San Fransico Ballet’s Trainee program where he performed with the company. He danced for Silicon Valley’s Ballet San Jose as an apprentice and then as a corps member from 2009-2011.

He competed and placed as a finalist in the Jackson International Ballet Competition in 2010.

Ito joined Miami City Ballet in 2011 as a Corps de Ballet member. He was promoted to Soloist in 2016 and Principal Soloist in 2019. In 2023 Ito joined Carolina Ballet as a soloist.
