Joshua Martinez was born in The Bronx, New York, and began his dance training at age 8 at Performers Edge Dance Arts in the Bronx. He advanced his training in Manhattan at Fiorello. H. LaGuardia in 2022 under the direction of Michelle Mathesius and Gregory Sinacori. He received additional training at MOVE|NYC| in the Young Professionals program where he was mentored by Nigel Campbell and Chanel DaSilva. Joshua then joined Manhattan Youth Ballet under Debra Wingert and was mentored by George Sanders, Daniel Ulbrict, Craig Salstien, Ashley Bouder and Earl Mosley. Joshua has attended summer programs with Carolina Ballet and Kaatsbaan. He has also competed at Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP), placing third in the Classical Division. A recurring participant in Carolina Ballet’s Summer Intensive for the past three years, Joshua joined Carolina Ballet as a Corps de Ballet member in August 2026.
