Josephine Bommer was born in New York City and began dancing at the age of three. She trained at the School of American Ballet in New York City for seven years, dancing several children’s roles with New York City Ballet. She went on to study at Manhattan Youth Ballet, where she performed leading roles in George Balanchine’s Valse Fantasie and The Four Temperaments. Additionally, Bommer trained with Zippora Karz and Carla Korbes, and attended summer programs at The Royal Ballet in London, The Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen, and Carolina Ballet. In 2024, she joined the School of Carolina Ballet as a pre-professional student under the direction of Zalman Raffael. While at the school, Bommer had many opportunities to perform with the company; her favorites include ‘Glazunov Waltzes’ by Zalman Raffael and ‘Right Here Right Now’ by Amy Hall Garner. In 2025, she joined Carolina Ballet as an Apprentice.
