A global awareness and fundraising campaign inspired by Tony Judt.

Jennifer Homans is the dance critic for the New Republic and a Distinguished Scholar in Residence at New York University, where she teaches the history of dance. Over the years Jennifer has written favorably about Carolina Ballet, and we have come to know her well. We were saddened to learn that Jennifer's husband, the historian Tony Judt, passed away on August 6, 2010 after a courageous battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) better known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Dancers of course are keenly aware of the importance of movement, and we want to be involved in helping to find a cure for ALS.

For more information on ways you can help, please visit www.moveforals.com. Any donation, however large or small, directly funds the scientific research crucial to finding a cure for one of the world’s worst fatal diseases – as well as helps to find treatments for related motor neuron diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s. All proceeds will go directly to Project ALS scientific research.
